Walkers on the Speyside Way

Two parties of walkers stayed at Parkburn. Marion, Gladys and Bobbie ( from Kirkwall) were here at the same time as Lothar and Hans from Germany. The walk from Ballindalloch has been quite long and tiring for many walkers. The finishing leg to Aviemore has been more pleasant and enjoyable.

Kylintra Meadows
On 27th September 2009 volunteers planted a section of cleared ground in Kylintra Park with daffodils as a Remembrance Garden.

Now the daffodils have bloomed and they have made a magnificent show which will be admired for many years to come.

Cyclists at Parkburn
This year we have had many cyclists staying at Parkburn. We have a large garage for overnight secure storage of cycles and I am willing to do laundry at an agreed price.

Karen Bennett from West Sussex was cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats for Maccmillan Cancer Charity. This is a gruesome challenge especially with the fickle Scottish landscape and even more fickle Scottish weather.

Steve Townsley from Cumbria was out to enjoy the rigors of cycling the Scottish countryside. He has a lot of experience of long distance cycling.I hope he returns to Parkburn on one of his future cycle runs.Look out for his blue tail!!

Canoeists

Amelia, Andrew and Mark were canoeing with others on the west coast of Scotland. Despite the weather they accomplished all they set out to do. I must say I was very impressed with how Amelia very expertly backed out the landrover and canoe trailer from our carpark at an angle and first time! No stress !!!

March fishermen

Steve Higgins and Doug Heeks stayed at Parkburn for 6 days while they fished at Tulchan. Dougie has been a regular guest at Parkburn and hopefully Steve ( from Cumbria) will come again to enjoy fishing in the River Spey.

Visitors from Germany

Suzanne and Lisa from Dinkelscherben Germany arrived at Parkburn during our very stormy weather on 31st March. Grantown suffered 60 hours of continuous snow and wind. Many roads were closed and the fishermen staying at Parkburn were unable to fiah at Tulchan. On Friday 2nd April the sky was clear, the temperature about 10 cent. and the fishermen had fishing on the Saturday in wonderful conditions!!
