Owl Wood Carving at Parkburn
Many people admire the Owl Wood Carving we have in the front garden at Parkburn. It was created by Iain Chalmers at the annual Chainsaw Carving Competition at Carrbridge near Grantown on Spey.
Many wood carvers from overseas and nationally take part. The spectators also take part by voting for their favourite carving by placing a metal disc in a bucket. After the prize giving the carvings are put up for auction to the highest bidder. This is a wonderful day out for all the family.
Iain Chalmers has his own website and takes commissions for garden furniture, stand alone carvings, tables, chairs, ornaments, etc.

The Cairngorm Reindeer Herd
Wild reindeer near Cairngorm
A good visit while you stay at Parkburn is the Cairngorn Reindeer Centre at Glenmore. Join the 'reindeer herder' out on the hillside.
These quiet friendly animals are a delight to experience. You can even take a 1/2 day trek across the open countryside.
At Christmas time the reindeer visit Grantown to pull Santa Claus through the town.Santa is followed by walkers, many holding flaming torches. Afterwards there is a carol singsong and refreshments to finish off the evening.
